Could someone please upload this again? Thank you :)

@ @zahnadu
Thanks, but the torrent is neither dual audio nor x264.
It is avi and is a good video.

I don't have access to torrents anyway, but thank you (I'm on a shared computer)

Yeah, the torrent I found is xvid. (I was too lazy to log in and post using my name.) Too bad torrents aren't possible for you.
I did find a 720p blu-ray rip in x264, then found matching English subs. I'm going to re-encode to x265 for my library. It won't have English audio, but I can post it here if you like.
If you find a version with English audio, I can try downloading it, to combine with what I'm re-encoding.

@meridian
any audio is fine, I just need the hard-coded eng subs (bad hearing and all that), one of the reasons why i was looking for an mkv with subs in the movie itself :)
so if you have one with the eng subs included, i'll definitely grab myself a copy :D
thank you!

The re-encode finally finished, and I muxed in the subs. My system isn't terribly fast.
It came in at just under 2 GB, so I split it into three parts for uploading. Here's the first. I'll have to upload the other two later.

Thank you so much! I'm grabbing part 1 now, will get the others as quickly as I can :D
I really do appreciate your help in watching this :)

You're welcome. I'm also working on Space Battleship Yamato, because my previous copy was only 720p.

@meridian
Oh wow, that would be amazing! Will it be mkv with hard-coded eng subs? (sorry to be a nuisance, i really need those built-in subs *facepalm*)

Thank you so much for helping me, you're amazing! :D

(grabbing part two of wolfhound now \o/)

Yes. I found a torrent of the version you posted about, and just now finished re-encoding to x265. That saved about 700 MB. I'll watch it tomorrow, to fix the subs, then mux them in.

Technically the subs are soft-coded (you can turn them off and on). They are, however, contained within the mkv, which seemed to be your main concern.

Luckily, you and I seem to share an interest in certain films, so I'm happy to share my work :)

I also have a 720p copy of On Drakon (Dragon Inside Me) already in x265, but the subs are poor. I'll have to look around for better ones.

@meridian
Wow, thank goodness for a shared liking of movies, and yes, being able to turn the subs on/off is a big help for me, when they come as a seperate file I can't get them to work on the tv *sad face*

I'm just grabbing wolfhound part 3 now, thank you so much :)
I'll let you know if it plays (sometimes my player can take offense at x265 *LOL* no idea why ;) )

I hope it works well for you. My suspicion is that many TVs can't handle 10 bit encoding. That's why I encode using 8 bits. Please let me know if it works.

I just finished Space Battleship Yamato, and will be uploading that soon. My upload speed sucks, so it will take 4-5 hours. I'll post the links on the page where you posted your request. That way others can download it, too, if any are so inclined.

@meridian
I've found that my tv can play x264 just fine but it always seems to glitch with x265? (even my pc video player won't open x265)

I'm not sure what's happened with wolfhound but i downloaded all three parts and used 7z to open them but it gives me an error saying they can't be opened as an archive? *sigh* i'm really sorry about that, i know how long it must have taken you to upload them :(
I'll have another go, just in case one of the files didn't download correctly and let you know.

Try WinRAR for opening the Wolfhound files. It's free for 30 days, and after that has only a nag screen but keeps working. I like it much better than 7zip.

For your PC, use PotPlayer (free). I've tried a lot of players, and this is the best I've found. I like it even better than VLC. Also, it contains the codecs necessary to play x265.

Regarding your TV, it depends on brand and age. If it's a lesser known brand, or more than 4 years old, I can see that it might have a problem. For example, my 4 year old Samsung plays 8-bit x265 but not 10-bit, and my 7 year old Vizio won't play x265 at all.

@meridian
At the risk of butting in, again, what do you mean by 'a TV won't play (10bit, x265, x264)'? Are you putting a file on a flash drive and plugging that into the TV?

04/20/18
23:55:33
meridian

@Raada

Yes. Adoption of newer codecs is always slower among consumer electronics than computers. Most TV's made in the last 10 years have the codec for x264, and many have the codec for 8-bit x265. However, I've found some TVs, even newer ones, aren't capable of playing a 10-bit x265 file via USB. I do not mean this as gospel. It's just my personal experience.

04/21/18
01:38:16
Raada

@meridian
OK, I see. I just use a computer as my Home Entertainment System and rely on the HDMI interface. In my case I can play 10bit x265 UNLESS I am running Handbrake which max's out all 8 cores and then the video glitches. 8bit x265 is fine, though. But that's not the TV's fault, I just need more horsepower or settle for 8bit.

04/22/18
00:43:16
zahnadu

My tv is only a few years old but already out of date (it was the best you could get at the time, including 3D), and while it plays x264 just fine on the flashdrive, it comes up with an error for x265 (but I don't mind sticking to the older files if needed)

@meridian
Will have a go with WinRAR and see if that works :)

@zahnadu
Mine isn't 4K nor 3D, but the next one will. I'm waiting for more 4K content before pulling the trigger. btw, The Winrar site has a free unrar you can download. I hope it works for you. I've only found a very few rar files that 7zip couldn't handle. As Winrar updates its routines, 7zip includes them in its next release which could be a few months later.

@meridian
WinRAR worked unzipping this, unfortunately teh x265 didn't...but I managed to dig around (took me three days of solid searching *d'oh* and found a copy in the depths of google that had embedded subs *yay* it was x264 and worked fine :)

@zahnadu,
I found this version: "Wolfhound (2006) UNCUT 720p BluRay x264 Eng Subs [Dual Audio] [Hindi 2.0 - Russian 5.1] Exclusive By -=!Dr.STAR!=-" as a torrent. It seems to be a decent copy. I'll upload it to Clicknupload. My u/l is very slow so this may take a day or so. I'll post the link when (and if) it completes.

@Raada
Nice work! My original x264 version was 4.4 GB, so a bit big to upload. Today I found the same version you did, but on a download site. Unfortunately, the site added it's name to the subs and a bunch of file tags.

I've just cleaned the file and removed the Hindi audio track. If you're upload has any problems let me know and I'll upload this one.

Thank you both so much, I'm downloading part one of Raada's copy at the moment, will let you know how it works out when I get both files :)

(I'm not bothered by no End audio, if it's a non-End movie I prefer it in it's original language with subs anyway, some Eng dubbing can be so bad *LOL* :) )

If you can spare $5/month I highly recommend getting a VPN service. I use TorGuard (torguard.net). It works really well, and you can use it on multiple computers, even your smart phone.

@y-knot
Great point! I forgot about TV firmware updates.

@meridian

It gets complicated. If I 'pay' for anything then my real persona (with credit card) gets connected with my alias persona. Even if I use an internet currency like bitcoin, then I associate with organized crime and also, there's an income tax issue as the value increases.
I prefer to keep it separated as much as possible and live within the restrictions. Just my choice.

@Raada
I completely understand the privacy concern. If you want to add another layer of protection you could buy a Visa gift card with cash, then use that to purchase the VPN service.

As for searching for foreign movies and shows, I find I get extra hits if I use the original language title. For example, Volkodav 2006 for this movie. Then again, you may already know that. Too bad this site doesn't have a PM system, so we could more easily help each other.

I get that. I forget about the gift card because I've been stiffed too many times with Visa gift cards, but that is still a valid option.

Actually, MediaInfo says Hindi is the first track and Russian is the second and the first text track is English. I must have left Russian selected on VLC last time and I selected 'Continue where left off...'
