@sijors

Ignore meridian. He's a paranoid snob, pretending to be helpful to all the trolls here who ask him dumb questions.

My apologies, sijors. The troll has made so many fake accounts and been so active here, that I've become a bit jaded and look for sarcasm and trolling where there isn't any. ~sigh~

I appreciate the compliment :)

I've gotten into watching some Aussie and New Zealand shows lately. I find them refreshing and entertaining. Do you watch 800 Words? That's my current favorite.

I'm still collecting 800 Words, it looks good. Right now my favorite AU TV series is A Place to Call Home. But I mostly watch USA and Canadian TV.

@sijors

You sound like "sjors" but you are "sijors".

@meridian

I think you might have been trolled.

Also, G0DSGIFT is not godsgift.

Hmm.

@TH3-MOL3

Yes, that is true. See I have not use "sjors" in a long time because that computer died with my pass. Then I saw someone was using "sjorz" with my pic, so I signed up again as "sijors".

Funny thing is, "TH3-MOL3" is not "TH3-M0L3".

Hmm.

@sijors

My "TH3-M0L3" account was banned a while ago by admin (long story), but I recently signed up again as TH3-M0L3. Also, I think there's a new owner of RM here now who doesn't care who is who or whatever.

I guess we have no way to prove who is who then.

I've been wondering whether that ever-so-thankful commenter (or commentor?) thaone (aka anothaone) could be some kind of bot.
Has she/he/they/it ever left any comment other than her/his/their/its mindlessly ubiquitous "Thank You"?

Just a thought. :-)

@Atoz

Trust me, thaone is not a bot. I have noticed patterns that only a human would do. My guess is bearman and thaone are one in the same, and the rest are copycats, but IDK.

Here's an interesting repost from dexman:

Here's some suggestions for this site:

Only allow members to post with a limit of 5 posts per day.

Also, have a thank you button for all members to show their appreciation. As such, members who continuously post simple "thank you" comments will face being be banned.

Also, members should be able to hide/block/report any member they wish to ignore/report via a site filter and such.

Furthermore, when need be, suspend all new memberships until undesirable members have been purged.

Beyond that, some effective anti-spam code should likely be implemented.

Consider getting some ruthless mods who know how to deal with trolls.

And if you can't do as such, then get rid of the comment system altogether, at least until such improvements could be implemented. Also, there's still off-site social and email.

Consider opening a forum, that need not be part of this domain, such as on reddit or Voat.

Consider having a VIP area, such as for those who contribute in some way.

And last but not least, stop using ultraimg, please!

So that's that. I imagine such improvements will help this site look better, run smoother, and grow this community.

I think there's way more than just one tiny troll here.

@el duderino (I'm not into the whole brevity thing) and/or dexman

I'm down with most those suggestions.

I'm not quite sure, however, about ending commenting or limiting the number of comments per day; those who have legitimate things to say should be able to say them, and I really wouldn't want to have to support Zuckerberg or bother with emailing to do that. Plus, when a comment pertains to a specific release, it's probably best if it's right there on that release's page where folks can see it before they download.

The most important of those suggestions, as I see it, is the call for a "Thank You" button. One can only hope that the addition of such a feature would eliminate those strings of thank-you comments which tend to ineffectualize the "Recent Comments" portion of the page.

Speaking (or typing) of the "Recent Comments" list, I'd actually like to see that list increased from 10 to maybe 20 comments; there's usually blank real estate at the of that right-hand column anyway, and the RC list does seem more useful than that list of "Archives" links that would get pushed further down. I'd also suggest adding a separate RC list with an even longer "memory", accessed by clicking the RC list title or via a new "Quick Link".

@Atoz

I agree, a "Thank You" button is the best idea. Nothing new, as other sites/forums have been doing that for a long time.

Also a longer RC list would be nice. As you may know, some chat services let you look back at most all older comments.

Plus I think you would need some mods to enforce some basic rules, such as no mindless thank you posts, and perhaps no requests.

As for trolls making similar accounts, that can be thwarted in part with email confirmation. Beyond that, I guess mods would have to deal with it. Hmm.

BTW, thadude is not thedude and Atoz is not Atos, ha.

Also, no more unregistered users. They can look but not post, just like most other sites.

@TH3-MOL3

Quite possibly. I've been trolled before. I'm pretty good about spotting them, but not perfect.

@thedude

I agree. I think there are a few minor trolls, and one or two major trolls who love to manipulate this discussion area. GODSGIFT is definitely one.

btw, @thedude, a few days back you mentioned web site work. I'm interested to learn more. I'd like to branch out from what I'm currently doing.

@meridian

Seriously? How do I know you're not trying to troll me? Ha..

Regardless, I'm glad to hear you're interested, as I think you're a smart gentleman who has a keen attention to detail.. Also, I obviously need help, ha.

So again, this work involves proofreading/editing website content. All legit, mostly info-sec related. The pay is not great, but I'm working on that.

In short, one of my clients is huge, so there's near endless work to be done. They said they "need" me, but I'm holding out for more compensation. As it is I've likely saved them big $. I will know more by 2018..

I also have a growing client list, but my focus of late is building my new site and bringing in some partners.

So we can connect later. I'll show you how we can do that via PM and then to email.

In the meantime, it would help expedite things if you opened new reddit, voat, and email accounts. Gmail, is fine or whatever. I'm not concerned with complete privacy, it's just to break away from here so joe troll and such can't simply follow us. But if you want more privacy, I can advise.

Don't post any of you're contact info here! I will post mine later and we will take it from there as need be.

I will disclose to you my past business plan and what I'm thinking for the future. Your free to do as you wish, even take my ideas and go off on your own.

No pressure, no rush. Think fun, not work.

I'll use this thedude account to reach you.

P.S. I know most folks network such things via LinkedIn. I'm there, but this is more fun, ha.. As for the trolling around here, consider that as part of your security training, ha.
